State Representative Lindsay James Announces Campaign for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd District
Dubuque, IA — August 19, 2025 — State Representative Lindsay James (D-Dubuque), a dedicated chaplain and proud Iowa mom, today announced her campaign for Congress, promising to listen and put the needs of Iowa families first. Guided by her core belief to “love your neighbor,” Lindsay is committed to fixing a broken system that favors billionaires and leaves too many Iowans behind.
Throughout her life, Lindsay has worked tirelessly to listen and support her fellow neighbors through the good and bad. As a chaplain, she has provided support to those facing hardships. As a state lawmaker, James has focused on delivering common-sense solutions to address the urgent issues facing Iowa families — from lowering housing costs and improving public education to supporting working parents and making health care more affordable.
“Every Iowan deserves a fair shot to build the life they deserve,” said James. “I will listen and be their voice in Congress, fighting to make life better for families across our district. We need to come together to build a stronger, fairer Iowa where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
Lindsay’s record of bipartisan accomplishments in the state legislature working to reduce the cost of insulin and protect mobile home residents demonstrates her ability to break through political gridlock and connect with people from all walks of life. Her priority is to lower costs, strengthen communities, and ensure every family has a fair shot at success.
Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses northeast Iowa, covering 22 counties, including the communities of Decorah, Dubuque, Grinnell, Toledo, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Mason City, Eldora, and Oelwein.
“Iowans are fed up with politics and tired of being left behind by politicians in DC. This campaign is about building a brighter future for all of us — one where families no longer face impossible choices to have the life they deserve,” Lindsay added. “I am ready to work hard every day to make that future a reality for all Iowans.”
