End Citizens United Endorses State Representative Lindsay James for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District
End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed State Rep. Lindsay James for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District. Rep. James is part of Unrig Washington, a coalition launched by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.
“Washington is dominated by wealthy special interests, and too many politicians spend their time chasing corporate money instead of standing up for the people they were elected to serve,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “The result is higher costs for families in Iowa while corporations and billionaires keep getting further ahead. Lindsay James can’t be bought. She is rejecting corporate PAC money and is committed to tackling the corruption in government so working people finally have someone in their corner. We’re proud to endorse Rep. James and we look forward to helping her win.”
“Washington is rigged for the billionaires and corporate interests who flood our elections with Big Money,” said Iowa State Rep. Lindsay James. “I’m honored to receive End Citizens United’s endorsement and work together to change this broken system. I’m rejecting corporate PAC money because voters deserve to know I will only represent their interests, not those of corporate donors or billionaires. I look forward to partnering with End Citizens United to continue advocating for hard-working families and defeating my millionaire, lobbyist, Republican opponent."
As a state representative and chaplain, Lindsay James is a trusted voice who listens to and stands up for people across Iowa. She believes that the government should serve the people, not the powerful special interests. In the legislature, Rep. James worked across party lines to expand access to affordable insulin, protect mobile home residents from predatory corporate landlords, and advocate for affordable housing. She has championed policies that strengthen communities from the ground up so that no one — no child, farmer, or working family — gets pushed aside.
Rep. James is part of Unrig Washington, a coalition launched by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics. Her commitment to real reform makes her well-positioned to gain public support and flip a key Republican seat in Congress.
