Our farmers cannot wait another 10-years to pass a new farm bill.&nbsp; They need leaders who will stand with them in the fight for their markets and their pocket books.<ol><li>Pass a Farm Bill: It’s been a decade since we passed a farm bill. Congress has abandoned Iowa farmers in a rapidly changing agricultural world. Dubuque, IA – This afternoon, the House of Representatives voted to pass a three year extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits, after Iowa Republicans did nothing for months to prevent these credits from expiring. State Representative and candidate for IA-02 Lindsay James released the following statement: “Too many of our neighbors face skyrocketing health care costs thanks to the failures of Washington and Iowa Republicans, who have done nothing to solve this problem. Iowans need someone who will bring real solutions to Washington to fix the skyrocketing costs of healthcare and insurance in our state. No one in the United States should have to face bankruptcy because of a healthcare emergency. No one in our country should have to ration life saving medication because of high costs and deductibles, or travel hundreds of miles to receive quality care. As Iowa cancer rates increase and rural healthcare faces incredible financial strain, we need urgent policy changes.<ol><li>Medicare: I pledge to fight against any cuts to the care our seniors deserve. I will work to lower the Medicare buy in age to 55, and expand their ability to negotiate all drug prices so we can lower prescription costs.</li><li>Medicaid: We must immediately reverse the disastrous cuts to Medicaid that have left rural healthcare providers under strain, and jeopardized services for Iowans.</li><li>Price Transparency: Hospitals and Insurance Companies must provide transparency in what they are charging consumers and covering and I will hold them accountable to that.</li><li>Recruit and Retain more doctors and nurses to make up for Iowa’s lack of medical professionals, especially in rural areas.</li><li>Restore Roe v. Wade to be the law of the land and defend a woman’s right to make her own medical decision with her body.</li></ol>

Money in politics has led to toxic partisanship which seeks to divide us, distract us, and to keep us down.
