Lindsay James Statement on Vote to Extend ACA Tax Credits That 26,000 Iowans Rely On in IA-02
Dubuque, IA – This afternoon, the House of Representatives voted to pass a three year extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits, after Iowa Republicans did nothing for months to prevent these credits from expiring. State Representative and candidate for IA-02 Lindsay James released the following statement:
“Too many of our neighbors face skyrocketing health care costs thanks to the failures of Washington and Iowa Republicans, who have done nothing to solve this problem. Iowans need someone who will bring real solutions to Washington to fix the skyrocketing costs of healthcare and insurance in our state. I am grateful that the House passed this bill to make sure the 26,000 Iowans in this district who depend on ACA tax credits will continue to be able to afford health insurance for another three years, but it’s not enough. I promise you I’ll fight every day to fix our system, so no Iowa family has to make the impossible choice between paying their health care premium or putting food on the table.”
While Lindsay will fight to get costs down, IA-02 candidates Joe Mitchell and Shannon Lundgren would be a rubber stamp for their party bosses in voting to RAISE Iowans’ health care costs.
