Lindsay will fight to:
Get money out of politics: The Citizens United v. FEC decision allows for unlimited corporate spending in our elections – influencing politicians and policy itself. I will work to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn this decision and will never take corporate PAC money.
Ban Congressional Stock Trading: Congress is about serving the American people, not enriching yourself. I will fight tirelessly to ban members of Congress, the executive branch, the Supreme Court, and their families from trading individual stocks and put real penalties on those who abuse the public's trust. That is why I support the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act and would immediately push for its passing into law.
Ban members of Congress from becoming Lobbyists: We must end the revolving door in Washington by banning members of Congress from becoming lobbyists. I support the bipartisan BLAST Act which would replace the one year “cooling off” period with a lifetime ban on former members lobbying Congress and would close loopholes that let ex-members do lobbying work without formally registering as lobbyists, like Joe Mitchell.
Term Limits for Members of Congress: It’s time for new, fresh ideas in Washington. I support a six term limit in the U.S House, or twelve years. By establishing term limits for Members of Congress, we can help get Washington back to its original purpose – serving constituents and the country, not themselves.
Pass Ethics Reform for the Supreme Court: The highest court of the land should be held to the same, if not stricter, ethics requirements as other government positions. I will fight for commonsense reforms such as banning justices from accepting lavish gifts and disclosing gifts received and establishing an investigative body within the Court to provide accountability.
Require Town Halls: Being a member of Congress means representing your neighbors, and that requires showing up and listening. I have already held more than 50 town halls across the district, while Joe Mitchell hasn’t held one. I will fight to ensure all members are required to hold at least one town hall meeting annually.
Ban Privileged Government Employees from Insider Trading on Prediction Markets: Government employees should not be using insider information to make a profit on prediction markets when it comes to war, elections, or other government activities.
